Back in the spring I went to Whitstable in Kent to view an exhibition by Brian Aris when I came out and walked back along the road I noticed a photography studio, with a small gallery of the photographers work, I went in and explained that I wasn't there to have my photograph taken but was studying for my degree and could I look at his work, which he happily agreed too, I was also persuaded to show him a few examples of my own work which I had stored on my phone, a very nerve racking experience for me as I enjoy portrait photography and he had won several awards for his. He was very encouraging and gave me plenty of advice and help and I have been down there since to see him.Nick is also one of the only photographers to work in a black studio rather than a white one, it was interesting to see how the light could be controlled better using the black studio and he explained to me that it is easier to make the room white rather than black. I have since painted the room I use as a studio very dark grey and I can understand what he means.
The photographers name is Nick Moore ARPS ABPPA LBIPP
